HDClear 1

Custom Printed Translucent to Transparent Window Film

HDClear 1: Translucent to Transparent

For those projects where you want a hint of color. It’s often confused with colored film, but this film is clear and we custom print a light coloured design onto the top surface.

Images printed with HDClear 1 custom printed translucent to transparent window film, are softer and tend to wash out in bright light. Often times clients will pass us graphics and want them printed at certain translucency level. Bright areas or locations with direct sunlight will see enough light to erode resolution. Artistically speaking, HDClear 1 printing is designed to disperse vision. Much like airbrushing photography: hard lines are removed, colors are washed and the printed areas are softer.

Architects and Designers love this choice because of its softer appearance and impressionistic feel. This type of printing is designed to shape the environment in a subtle and ethereal manner.

The most common use is to help keep people from walking into large glass panels. Since floor-to-ceiling glass is optically clear, peripheral vision fails to pick up the glass surface and pedestrians can walk directly into tempered glass. Head injuries, neck injuries and glass damage are avoided by mounting art to glass similar to what is seen above.

Many countries realize this is a safety issue and have building codes that specify visual indicators to be installed. HDClear custom printed decorative window film is dynamic and leaves a space open and inviting while making the best effort to protect even the most distracted pedestrian.

What makes HDClear different?

HDClear works with true, optically clear polyester film (PET). We use a unique printing process with CMYK inks for HDClear 1. Applied in layers, our proprietary process allows graphics to be viewed from both sides of the glazing, permitting natural light to flood through. Our optically clear polyester film outlasts all traditional vinyl graphic applications to flat glass areas.

Critical definitions?

Transparent – Having the property of transmitting rays of light, for persons/objects on the opposite side, to be “distinctly seen”: Rose-colored glass is transparent.  Please note, the base of HDClear is clear and to simulate transparency we add fine spots of color, which will reduce optical clarity in the printed areas.

Translucent – Permits light to pass through with enough dispersion, for persons/objects on the opposite side to not be clearly visible: Frosted window glass is translucent.
